About me:

Destruction Evolution (DE), from San Antonio, Texas, is a high energy, Southern Metal band; heavy, but melodic, with a groove & bluesy guitar licks without that screaming, cookie-monster vocal style. They are influenced by Down, COC, Alice in Chains, Black Label Society, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Godsmack, Soundgarden, & more. Their most recent work appears on the first GI Jams compilation CD called, “The Original Music of Our U.S. Military Artists”, as well as their debut CD, “Relentless” are both exclusively available at www.gijams.com/web/destructionevolution.

The band has been the top metal band in San Antonio since July 2010. Destruction Evolution is signed to EMI and GI Jams as part of a global administration and publishing deal. In 2011, they also signed a distribution agreement with Rhino Custom Products (a Warner Music Group), a label that features Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Alice in Chains and more. The band has a unique yet accessible sound that wins over any rock or metal crowd & has enabled them to open for a diverse collection of rock & metal bands including Saxon, Dokken (twice), Texas Hippie Coalition (twice), Adrenaline Mob, Kill Devil Hill, Kamelot, Hinder, Saving Abel, Black Stone Cherry, Crowbar, Prong & more. In addition, they have played the South Texas Rock Fest with Queensryche, Saxon, & many other national acts.

Destruction Evolution has also headlined some of the best live music venues in north and south Texas, including Backstage Live in San Antonio, the Iron Horse Pub in Wichita Falls, and the Rail Club in Fort Worth. Two of their songs have been used in independent films, “Relentless” and “Friend to Enemy” can be heard in the movies “Mindsight” and “WOPS”, respectively. Last but not least, River City Wrestling, a subsidiary of World Wrestling Entertainment was granted permission to utilize their songs as theme/promotional music for their events & wrestlers. What could be more metal than jammin’ to Destruction Evolution while watching grown men beat the hell out of each other?!

DE also believes whole-heartedly in performing for charitable causes such as St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the San Antonio Ride 4 Troops, Mr. Holland’s Opus foundation and they have a passion for donating their time to Wounded Warriors of our Armed Forces.

My definition of "Freedom" is:

Freedom is something that touches all of our senses in different ways. Sound - hearing the roar of a Harley Davidson Road King cruising down the highway, an A-10 Wart Hog screaming through the sky or our lead singer performing the National Anthem at a San Antonio Spurs game. Smell and taste - hot dogs, cotton candy and popcorn at a state fair and mesquite-laced Texas barbecue brisket, slow cooking and overflowing with juices. Sight - watching families wave the American flag at a 4th of July parade in small town Iowa and seeing old footage of Johnny Cash performing with an American flag behind him. Touch - a veteran touching his or her old uniforms and military gear as an every day reminder that freedom is what he or she fought for during their military service; our singer returning from a long deployment and reuniting with his family with a welcoming embrace; the handshake of an active duty Soldier and an old salty veteran with a tear in his eye. Or watching the Air Force Honor Guard bury a fallen comrade at Arlington National Cemetery. Finally, it's this great melting pot that we are a part of where our lead guitar player is a first generation Chinese American whose ancestors sacrificed so much for him to become an American and a lawyer as well. Freedom is where thousands of immigrants each year dismiss their nations and swear allegiance to the United States by becoming citizens of the greatest country on earth! Where else but America??!!!
